Cin4LeZ - #5Tee
Hey guys, welcome to another week at Cin4LeZ. This episode I'm doing things a little differently because I snagged an interview with one of the best in the business, Natalie Bible'.
Who the hell is Natalie Bible' you ask? Well true you mightn't know who she is but I know you know this film....'Developing Her'. Yes people she is the woman behind the film. In fact she is so much more....she's a photographer, a writer, a producer, a director, a music management guru. Has four companies all under the umbrella of Absinthe Enterprise and as if she had any spare time, she is the President of the non-profit organization, Female Filmmakers all based in Los Angeles, California. This Tennessean native is as fierce as they come when it comes to business but a very lovely person in reality. So she was very gracious to grant me this interview, so my darlings pay close attention cuz she has a lot to say....
l am the CEO & Founder of Absinthe Enterprise, a female owned entertainment Company located in Los Angeles, California. Absinthe Enterprise was launched with the goal of creating thought provoking art for women that makes a powerful impact worldwide. Our focus stretches from film production and music management to photography and graphic design. I am also the Executive Director of the "Female Filmmakers Campaign" a female driven eco friendly non profit organization, which raises money to create art with a voice. We focus on Political & Social Issues effecting our nation as well as on Gay & Lesbian issues.
T.S - How did Absinthe Productions come about?
N.B - l wanted to create a production company that could create films primarily for lesbians that was raw and honest. The company was established in 2007 and has been going strong ever since. l felt that there were not enough mainstream companies producing lesbian material that portrayed lesbians accurately. l wanted to provide an outlet to help open peoples minds and create a voice for those without one. T.S - To date how many films have you made and have they all been lesbian films? N.B - My work stretches from short films, feature films, commercials, and music videos. l have done 7 films to date, 6 out of 7 being all lesbian. Our current project "Developing Her" can be seen at The Other Venice Film Festival in Venice, CA, October 15-17th. T.S - In your short Developing Her, could you tell us A) How can people see it if they can't get to any one of the festivals it's playing at? B) Do you plan on making it a feature film? N.B - You can buy the film directly from our website at www.absintheproductions.org at this time. We are currently in development on turning Developing Her into a full feature film. Developing Her - TrailerIt's a short film about one woman's quest to find a love that she has Fictionally created. Starring Bebe Bible'. Directed / Produced / Edited by Natalie Bible`
T.S - Is anything anything else in the works?
N.B - At this time we are in Pre Production on "Dandelion" a feature film l wrote and will be Directing set to release in 2011. This is a very exciting project that centers around two women and the drink Absinthe. We have some A list talent attached to the project and really think you guys are going to love it. T.S - Has being a lesbian hindered you in anyway, professionally? N.B - lt's def hard being a lesbian or a women for that matter in this industry. Getting your foot in the door is the hard part. For that reason we started the non profit organization called the "Female Filmmakers Campaign" to create a place where strong women could come together to create films and art for the greater good. T.S - What are the difficulties in producing lesbian films and getting it seen or distributed?
N.B - Alot of times trying to get financing behind lesbian genre films can be the hard part. Alot of people are still very closed minded and don't see the marketability behind the genre. lt can def be tricky to find the right person to back your project. T.S - Any advice to young (lesbian) filmmakers out there? N.B - My advice to young lesbian filmmakers is to go after your dream and never let anyone stop you. There are so many people who will tell you that you'll never be able to accomplish what your trying to do or that the odds are against you, but if you have the drive, the passion, and the love for what your doing than no one can stop you from getting where you want to go, but you. Believe in yourself and believe in the story you are telling and Never give up. T.S - Have you seen any 2010 films, and if yes...which are your favorites? N.B - l recently saw "Chloe" with Amanda Seyfried, who is a young actress that l love. l really enjoyed the film and the dark undertone that it had. Was one of my favorite films that l have seen in a long while. T.S - Why did you decide to get in the music game as well? N.B - l have always loved music and felt that it really went hand in hand with what we were doing with film. We are always searching for music for our film projects. l fell in love with the lesbian fronted band Fridays Waiting and their amazing sound, so l decided to create my own indie label & management division and sign them. l love working with strong female vocalist who are passionate about the music. T.S - Is Friday's Waiting you're only signed artist? N.B - Yes, at this time they are. We are currently looking for new talent to bring on board for 2011, so feel free to send us your demo. http://www.absintheelite.com T.S - Are you open to all genres or is it only rock?
N.B - We are open to ALL genres, but prefer female fronted bands or solo artist. T.S - Where do you see your company in five years? N.B - l see my company creating more positive and up lifting art and being able to reach a very large audience of people through both film and music. *END* So in conclusion I would like to thank Natalie again for giving us our first official interview and for you girls (members) remember to check P2 for your weekend specials....scene? See you next week chicas....peace out!!! |
